Definition
The director of a Swiss company can be a Swiss or foreign national but they must be resident in the country.
Since 1 July 2015, all SAs (Public Limited Companies) and SARLs (Private Limited Companies) must be represented by a resident for tax purposes of Switzerland
Article 718, paragraph 4 of the Code of Obligations states that: “The company must be represented by a person resident in Switzerland. At least one member of the Board of Directors or a director must fulfil this requirement.”
